Business advisory/Accounts assistant
We are looking for a motivated graduate/school leaver to work within our business advisory department.
The chosen candidate will be presented with the opportunity to experience all aspects of the bookkeeping and accounts preparation process, whilst studying for their professional qualification with full study support.
Responsibilities would include:-·
- Process transactions, perform bank reconciliations, post journals and update ledgers to produce monthly/quarterly management information
- Preparing VAT returns for approval by the client
- Liaising with senior accounts staff on various aspects of the job
- Learning how to use various accounting software/cloud based systems including Xero, Quickbooks and Sage 50
- Obtaining an understanding of the client’s business to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately and that they make commercial sense. Identify unusual transactions and discuss these with senior members of staff
- Helping clients to understand the information available to them within their chosen accounting system
- Assisting in preparing full accounts for clients
- Visiting client premises to help with their bookkeeping
- Training new and existing clients on how to use their accounting system, including identifying their specific needs
- Solving any issues a client may have with their accounting system.
Essential skills
- Degree in Accounting or 3 Highers
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail and desire to learn
- Excel and IT competency
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work as part of a team
